The Pick Up
All children, must be picked up in the Sanctuary or Nursery IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE SERVICE. We will not release children to siblings or on their own. Please check for any Parents Handouts
All other classes use the following format...
Welcome and Attention Getter - The children get to know one another through the use of an activity that gives them a chance to introduce themselves and share something special about themselves or their family.
Purpose - The purpose of the lesson is shared so that the children have an idea of what to expect.
Story/Lesson Focus - This is where we present the story, video or activity that will illustrate the point of the lesson and will help to give the children a common experience from which they can explore from.
Wonder Questions - We begin the exploration of the story at this point by asking the children a series open-ended questions that help them to see themselves in this story or to help them relate this story or activity to a Unity Principle and to life. This is an excellent way to get children involved in a discussion.
Creative Experience - Unity teaches PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - the application of Truth Principles in everyday life. No lesson is complete until the learning is applied. After the Wonder Questions the children are moved into an opportunity to express and explore what they just experienced. These explorations can take the form of artwork, journal writing, games, role-playing, small group activities, etc... The point is to allow the children to express what they need to express and to explore how these Truth ideas work in their own lives.
Process - Near the end of the time together we allow an opportunity for the children to share how they feel about what they are experiencing. We always encourage them to take future action using the Principles discussed.
